Frequently Asked Psychotherapy Requests
Indicative descriptions of what often leads someone to seek out a CBT psychologist in Athens — you may recognize something of your own in their words. The examples are composite and indicative — they do not represent actual patient excerpts, but reflect patterns commonly seen in clinical practice.
Depression
For months I couldn't get out of bed in the morning. I didn't feel sad — I felt absolutely nothing. Things I used to enjoy no longer interested me. After my first session, I started to understand what was happening to me.
Anxiety and Panic
My heart would pound even when I had no reason to worry. I constantly felt like something bad was about to happen, without knowing what. I avoided meetings, phone calls, even going out to run errands. I didn't know this had a name.
Phobias
I couldn't get into an elevator or an enclosed space without panicking. My heart would race, I'd sweat, I felt like I was suffocating. I started organizing my entire life around avoiding these situations. I never imagined it could change — but it did.
Couples Therapy
We'd been arguing about the same things for years, never getting anywhere. At some point we stopped arguing — and stopped talking altogether. The distance between us had become enormous. Therapy taught us to listen to each other in a way we never had before.
OCD and Obsessions
I'd check if I'd locked the door dozens of times before leaving the house. Even at work, the anxiety wouldn't let up — I had to go back and check again. My routine was completely wrecked. It was only through therapy that I understood I wasn't "crazy" — it was OCD.
MMPI-2 Personality Test
I came to the assessment after my second breakup. I wanted to understand why the same things kept happening again. The results revealed patterns in how I react that I couldn't see in myself.
